Alan Davidson Foundation awarded a £4,000 grant to Favell Day Services to purchase a SEERS medical adult hydraulic adjustable shower trolley for changing and personal care.

In October 2021 the Foundation awarded a £4,000 grant to Favell Day Services to purchase a SEERS medical adult hydraulic adjustable shower trolley for changing/personal care, as well as a laptop, portable projector and screen to facilitate zoom sessions with therapists or families, conduct quizzes, memory sessions, social sharing and programmes of individual interest. This system can be positioned to accommodate those who have severe loss of movement in their neck or head and will be large enough for all to see.

Favell Day Services currently offers support for 18 adults with disabling and degenerative conditions, providing the service from one day centre on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week in Northamptonshire. The six part time team members and 12 trained volunteers are passionate about delivering a ‘day’ that involves fun, companionship, and conversation on issues our people are interested in. Sessions often involve crafting, games and therapeutic activities.

Favell Day Services said “It will make a huge difference! And we really can’t thank you enough. We are all very excited.”

About Favell Day Services

The team provides benefit and social care advice; help with applications; liaise with multidisciplinary community health teams and advocate for our members to local authority services. We promote and organise physical care and visits from other health professionals such as specialist nurses and physiotherapists. Caring for a loved one can be isolating and physically exhausting. Those family members at home also need companionship and interaction with others. Family carers benefit immensely from a few hours respite each week. A chance to leave the house and meet socially with others or just be themselves and relax can make a huge difference to the mental health of a carer and can be the one thing that prevents the family slipping into crisis. We are a unique service offering tailored care and support for our people and their families meeting neurological, physical and mental health needs in an age appropriate and meaningful way.
