Foundation visit to Glasgow and Edinburgh

In August 2023, the Alan Davidson Foundation team visited MND Scotland in Glasgow, the MND-SMART team at the Euan MacDonald Centre, and the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture where Alan had studied.
In August 2023, the Foundation’s team met in Scotland, first visiting MND Scotland in Glasgow. The Foundation has supported MND Scotland for over 4 years, most recently our support enabled the organisation to create a new advocacy role, which has now grown into its own department. The Foundation continues to support MND Scotland in their ongoing work delivering important care for the people living with MND throughout Scotland.
Next stop was the MND SMART team at the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research at the University of Edinburgh, co-led by Professor Suvankar Pal, and Judy Newton, Scotland’s Lead MND Nurse Consultant and Clinic Manager of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. The Foundation’s team was introduced to the wider MND SMART team and presented some fascinating research by the very talented scientists on the team. It was followed by a tour of the high tech lab and a demonstration of stem cell research process, as well as a tour of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic, treating MND patients amongst others.

Lastly, we had the pleasure of visiting The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, where Alan studied. We were privileged to meet the school’s head, Professor Richard Anderson and the Principal of the Edinburgh College of Art, Professor Juan Cruz and were given a tour of the workshop, full of the student’s models from their year end show.
