The Alan Davidson Award 2021

Archiboo returns with a relaunched Alan Davidson Award for 2021. The new criterias aim to harness the power of storytelling through visual communication applied to real life projects. Judges will be looking for examples of compelling stories that are pushing project communication in new and exciting directions.
The Alan Davidson Award 2021
Alan Davidson Award for Storytelling

This new award is for a project that is utilising powerful storytelling to engage audiences in new and innovative ways.

While static imagery and physical models continue to play an important role, stories about future places and buildings are becoming more immersive as new technologies and creative approaches continue to expand the range of what’s possible.

Judges will be looking for examples of compelling stories that are pushing project communication in new and exciting directions.

They would like to see evidence of collaborative working methods, such as architects working together with filmmakers or local people to craft a narrative about a building or place.

We would like to see entries that are inclusive for all members of society. Entry fees will go directly to the Foundation

Criteria
Creativity

Consider the level of creativity involved whether from a technical perspective or otherwise. How does the experience unfold ? What medium are you using and why? How is the audience being engaged? What is original about the way you are telling the story?

Impact

How well is the story being told? Is the experience immersive? How are people sharing in the story? Is the story being told across different digital platforms? Is the user experience seamless and intuitive?

Measurement

How are you measuring success? What impact has your story had? For example, has it led to a tangible outcome such as planning permission ? Has it built relationships with the local community and/or other stakeholders?

About the Archiboo Web Awards

The 2021 Archiboo Awards will be open for entries from June.

The awards are looking for the best websites, videos, written content and online experiences that are stimulating new ideas and conversations around architecture and design.

Now in their sixth year, the Archiboo Awards honour inspirational design, great storytelling, excellent user experience and the clever use of social media as part of the mix.

We have 12 categories this year, including Best Visual Design, Best Online Experience, Best Podcast and the new Activism Award.

Entries are judged on their creativity by a prestigious panel of experts in property development, tech, design and media. The judging is a rigorous two-stage process including pre-scoring to determine shortlists and online category meetings where entries are evaluated in detail.

Winners are announced online and at a live event.
