Alan Davidson Scholarship

Empowering the next generation of architects

The Alan Davidson Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of architects through the Alan Davidson Scholarship. Established in 2021, the scholarship aims to support students who demonstrate exceptional promise in the field of architecture, particularly in architectural visualisation—a discipline that Alan Davidson himself pioneered.

Scholarship at the University of Kent

The scholarship was first introduced at the University of Kent, offering a £10,000 tuition fee to a home student enrolled in the 1 year MA Architectural Visualisation program. This program is unique in the UK, focusing exclusively on the art and technology of architectural visualisation. The scholarship not only alleviates financial burdens but also encourages students to excel in a field that combines creativity with cutting-edge technology. The scholarship ran for 3 years successfully supporting 3 home students.

Expansion to the University of Edinburgh

In 2024, the Foundation transferred its support to the University of Edinburgh, Alan Davidson’s alma mater. Through the Access Edinburgh matched funding scheme, the Foundation committed an annual gift of £10,000, supporting one scholar for the full duration of their six-year BA or MA Architecture program. Each scholar receives £3,000 per annum, with the University matching the Foundation’s contribution. Additionally, scholars are granted a one-off £1,000 student experience support payment in their first year, providing resources to enhance their academic and personal development.
