Together with PlayGC Theatre Company, the Alan Davidson Foundation is proud to announce that two further Davidson PlayGC Bursaries have been awarded in partnership with the Royal Court Theatre, London.
The next bursary will support playwright Rhys Warrington and his new play Monument, which will be staged from December 2026 to January 2027. The award continues the Foundation’s commitment to championing emerging voices and helping bold new writing reach the stage.
Through the Davidson PlayGC Bursary programme, the Foundation works with leading theatre partners to support new playwrights and bring fresh, original stories to audiences.
About Monument
‘…But it’s us that have to live with it.’ With the eyes of the world watching, a Welsh farming community, torn apart by tragedy, gathers to debate a planned memorial.
Tonight, you’re in the village hall with them – and every vote counts. A portrait of a close-knit community wrestling with its past, its future and the politics of remembrance.
Playwright Rhys Warrington makes his Royal Court debut with this world premiere, directed by Francesca Goodridge and co-produced with Sherman Theatre, Cardiff.
Rhys is the recipient of the second Davidson PlayGC Bursary, supported by PlayGC Theatre Company and the Alan Davidson Foundation.
